Join the DPA Board and Help Shape the Future of Pathology!

The Digital Pathology Association (DPA) is seeking passionate and dedicated healthcare professionals to join our Board of Directors. As a member of our Board, you'll play a fiduciary role in setting the strategic direction, ensuring financial health, and advancing the awareness, education, and adoption of digital pathology and AI within the healthcare community.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Active DPA Membership: This opportunity is for current non-industry DPA members looking to increase their involvement.
  • Current non-industry healthcare professional: We value diverse leadership and are seeking individuals currently employed in healthcare institutions. Examples include pathologists, pathology trainees, histotechnologists, cytologists, COOs, CFOs, or Laboratory Directors.
  • Demonstrated interest in digital pathology: Show a strong commitment to driving the adoption and implementation of digital pathology within your organization.
  • Operational and financial acumen: Understand the operational and financial implications of digital pathology and how it can benefit healthcare organizations.
  • Active DPA involvement: Have a history of contributing to DPA initiatives, committees, or task forces.
  • Organizational management expertise: Bring relevant experience in governance, fundraising, finance, global outreach, and strategic alliances.
  • Positive leadership attributes: Be a collaborative, forward-thinking individual committed to Conscious Inclusion who can effectively engage in discussions and debates.
  • Strategic vision: Demonstrate a proven ability to oversee innovative programs and drive organizational growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve a 3-year term on the Board of Directors.
  • Attend and actively participate in all 4 Board meetings per year (2 in-person at USCAP & PathVisions and 2 virtual).
  • Commit an average of 4-6 hours per month to DPA activities (e.g., Board meetings, committee work, preparation, and ambassadorship). 
  • Serve as an ambassador for the DPA, promoting its mission and events to members.
  • Identify and recruit new members to strengthen the Association.
  • Actively participate in at least one DPA Committee and monitor progress toward short and long-term goals.
  • Adhere to Board-approved policies and bylaws.
  • Advocate for the DPA and represent its interests to policymakers, organizations, and members.

 

Board Member Expectations

 

Serving on the DPA Board requires a high level of commitment to sound governance and ethical practice. Candidates must be prepared to fulfill the following duties:

 

  • Fiduciary Duty: Exercise prudent financial oversight, ensuring resources are used to advance the DPA's mission.

  • Conflict of Interest: Disclose any actual or potential Conflicts of Interest and adhere strictly to the DPA's Conflict of Interest Policy, prioritizing the DPA’s welfare above personal gain.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information discussed during Board and committee meetings.

 

Non-Industry Focus

 

  • This seat is specifically for a non-industry member—defined as an individual whose primary employer is a hospital, academic institution, clinical laboratory, government agency, or similar non-vendor organization.

  • Applications from industry members (including consultants whose primary client base is vendors or manufacturers) will not be considered. If your professional status changes during the application process or term, you must notify the DPA immediately.

 

Financial Support

 

This is a volunteer position. Non-industry Board members receive the following:

 

  • Complimentary full conference registration to Pathology Visions.
  • Assistance with travel expenses for in-person meetings.

 

Interested & Eligible Candidates

 

The Nominating Committee will conduct a thorough review of all applications. We will finalize our selection process at the December Board meeting. All applicants will be notified by the end of December.

 

Applications submitted by industry members will not be considered.
