Digital Anatomic Pathology Academy (DAPA) Terms of Use and Content Disclaimer

The Digital Anatomic Pathology Academy (DAPA) is an educational resource maintained by the Digital Pathology Association (DPA). All digital slides, images, annotations, and other educational materials available through DAPA, including any derivative images, are the property of DPA and/or the contributing authors and are intended solely for educational purposes.

While DPA strives to maintain accurate and high-quality educational content, DPA does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or correctness of any diagnoses, annotations, metadata, or other associated information contained within DAPA. Users are responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it for educational, research, or clinical purposes.

Content Ownership and Use

The use of DAPA digital slides and associated educational materials in other educational or academic resources is permitted without charge provided that:

  • Appropriate attribution is given to the Digital Pathology Association (DPA) and the contributing authors.
  • The materials are used solely for non-commercial educational purposes.
  • The materials are not incorporated into programs, courses, or activities that require tuition, user fees, subscriptions, or other forms of payment.

Any commercial use, inclusion in fee-based educational programs, or other non-educational use requires prior written permission and a separate licensing agreement with DPA.

User Content, Storage, and Retention

DAPA is intended to serve as a curated educational repository rather than a permanent cloud storage or archival platform. To ensure sustainable resource management and equitable access for all members, each DAPA account is subject to a maximum storage limit of 50 GB. This allocation is intended to accommodate high-value educational materials such as teaching cases, slide collections, assessments, and related educational resources.

Users are responsible for managing the content stored within their accounts and are encouraged to periodically review their materials to ensure DAPA remains a current, relevant, and high-yield educational resource.

Specifically, members should:

  • Review existing cases and slide collections for continued educational value and relevance.
  • Remove cases that are outdated, redundant, incomplete, or no longer representative of current practice.
  • Update diagnoses, annotations, ancillary testing information, and educational commentary as appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to contribute new cases that address educational gaps or emerging practice patterns.
  • Ensure submitted content reflects important diagnostic entities, contemporary practice, and meaningful learning objectives for trainees.

Backup and Content Availability

Users are solely responsible for maintaining backup copies of any content they upload to DAPA. DPA does not guarantee that uploaded files, images, annotations, or other materials will be retained indefinitely.

DPA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove, archive, or permanently delete content that exceeds storage limits, is inactive, no longer aligns with DAPA's educational mission, violates applicable policies, or is otherwise deemed appropriate for removal.

Once content has been removed from DAPA, it may not be recoverable, and DPA cannot guarantee that users will be able to download or restore deleted materials. Users should not rely on DAPA as the sole repository for their educational or original content.

Reservation of Rights

DPA reserves the right to modify storage limits, content policies, or platform functionality at any time to support the long-term sustainability, quality, and educational mission of DAPA.

Our goal is to maintain DAPA as a premier resource for digital pathology education and digital sign-out training while ensuring that learners have access to the highest-quality, most current, and most impactful educational material.
