Ioannis Prassas is a Translational Scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. He leads the AI Digital Pathology Research Lab at the University Health Network, focusing on developing AI and machine learning to advance cancer diagnostics and biomarker discovery. His research bridges computational pathology and clinical practice, with an emphasis on translating AI-driven innovations into real-world diagnostic solutions.
Digital pathology is advancing faster than ever — and the next leap is here. Huron Technologies will unveil its next-generation scanners, delivering unmatched throughput, versatility, and robustness to transform lab efficiency and productivity. Attendees will get an exclusive first look at the HT 540’s groundbreaking parallelized scanning process and the debut of the VX 504, engineered to handle everything from cytology slides to whole-mount human brain specimens.
The session will also showcase how Huron and University Health Network (UHN) — Canada’s largest hospital network — are partnering to offer an improved Image Management System with workflows focused on enabling pathologists to diagnose as efficiently as possible. In addition, the partnership will co-develop a portfolio of AI algorithms for enhanced cancer diagnostics — designed by pathologists, for pathologists.
Join us to experience breakthrough scanners, smarter diagnostic workflows, and pathologist-driven AI — all designed to transform speed, efficiency, and accuracy in digital pathology.
