Joel Moncur, MD, PhD, MS, FCAP

Deputy Director, The Joint Pathology Center


Colonel Joel Moncur is the Director of the Joint Pathology Center in Silver Spring, MD. He earned his MD and PhD from Dartmouth in Hanover, NH and completed his pathology residency at Walter Reed in Washington DC. He is board certified in Anatomic, Clinical and Molecular and Genetic Pathology. One of Dr. Moncur's highest priorities is digitally transforming the Joint Pathology Center repository in order to generate high quality data that can be ethically used for artificial intelligence algorithms. He also chairs the College of American Pathologists Molecular Oncology Committee, which oversees proficiency testing and helps develop accreditation standards for clinical molecular oncology laboratories that support precision medicine.
