Deedee O'Brien

Patient Champion, American Society for Clinical Pathology


Deedee O'Brien founded and served as Executive Director of the non-profit Challenge Unlimited (CU) in Andover, MA from 1983-2022. Under her guidance, CU grew from a volunteer pastime to one of the largest equine therapy programs in the nation. Her innovative use of horses helped hundreds of individuals with disabilities, cancer survivors, seniors with memory impairment, veterans with Post Traumatic Stress, teens with behavior issues, and people in recovery. CU remains a place of healing and joy.

To discuss a patient-centric pathology clinic as a novel entity to engage patients on their journey to healing. A patient, Deedee O'Brien, and a pathologist, Dr. Lija Joseph, will present their experiences as patients and as a pathologist who has started an innovative program in Lowell to help patients understand their diagnosis.
